Fairmont Prep Student Honored by Korean American Community of Los Angeles
Fairmont Prep junior Scott Hong was recently awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles for his recent contributions to the community. Hong is currently working as a high school fellow for a nonprofit organization, Organization of Chinese Americans — Asian Pacific American Advocates' Greater Los Angeles (OCA-GLA) chapter. The organization “is dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APA) in the United States" by encouraging young members in the community to vote.
Inspired by his work at the organization, Hong has created an on-campus club for OCA-GLA at Fairmont Preparatory Academy. Last Friday, Hong invited his fellowship field specialist, Kurt Ikeda, to the Fairmont Prep campus to educate club members about the importance of voting and how to register individuals to vote.
Congratulations on all of your hard work, Hong!
