Visual and Performing Arts

Fairmont Preparatory Academy’s Visual and Performing Arts Departments offer students an array of classes in subject areas including art, photography, drawing, graphic design, theatre arts, choir, orchestra, fashion design, film, digital multi-media, and more. By taking visual arts courses, students learn how to see their world. They visualize, often for the first time, things around them and try to communicate what they see with visual images.

By creating what we call “art,” students learn to appreciate and think on a new level. They also gain confidence in themselves as creative beings. They are able to express themselves using the various media to communicate visually what cannot be expressed in any other way.

Similarly, students taking performing arts classes are challenged to think critically, learn about music and theatre history, and understand the many facets of music and acting. Students are given opportunities to showcase their talents by performing in theatre productions, orchestra performances, and choir performances.
