- Improving critical thinking skills, Fostering intellectual curiosity
- Increasing motivation
- Increasing engagement – both at-risk and gifted students engage more and act out as much as 50% less.

Fairmont Preparatory Academy Forensics competes as a part of the National Forensic League (NFL), specifically within the Southern California District which is made up of a number of southern California schools (www.nationalforensicleague.org).
Fairmont Prep also belongs to the Orange County Speech League (OCSL) under the direction of the California High School Speech Association (CHSSA). The Orange County Speech League holds tournaments on a monthly basis at various schools in California and the surrounding areas, as far away as San Diego. These tournaments are referred to as “league” tournaments and are available to any student who prepares and wishes to experience local high school competition. Invitational tournaments, typically those held at high schools and universities inside and outside of California, are open to a more diverse field of participants. At these travel tournaments, Fairmont Preparatory Academy students will compete with students from various parts of the country. These tournaments prepare qualify students for participation at the Tournament of Champions (TOC) as well as the NFL and NCFL national tournaments.
