In June, Fairmont junior Tara Falt participated in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology MathROOTS program, an 11-day invitational academic camp that hones advanced students’ math skills with math Olympiad-style problems. Following the camp, Falt was featured in an MIT news article promoting the MathROOTS program, which focuses on encouraging students interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education to pursue STEM-related career paths.
The program also connects academically advanced students (self-proclaimed “math geeks”) from all over the country. Falt was one of 20 students invited to participate in this summer’s MathROOTS program.
