It was a record-setting weekend for Fairmont Prep debate. Last weekend, your Fairmont Prep debate team competed simultaneously in tournaments at California State University, Fullerton and the Bronx High School of Science (aka Big Bronx). In total, seven teams competed in Public Forum Debate to great success.

The team of Gurveer Singh and Jake Palmer crushed the standing Fairmont record at Big Bronx. Previously, the team of Nick Palmer and Austin Kim attained a record of three wins and four losses at the tournament. Singh and J. Palmer won five of seven preliminary rounds and then won two elimination rounds to secure themselves a second gold bid to the Tournament of Champions. They ended up in the sweet sixteen, placing 14th in overall competition out of 200 of the best Public Forum teams in the country. Singh and J. Palmer secured the earliest qualification to the Tournament of Champions in Fairmont debate history.

Meanwhile, closer to home at CSU Fullerton, Olivia Bobrownicki and Numair Razzak both took home speaker awards, placing ninth and eighth, respectively. Overall, three Fairmont teams advanced to elimination rounds. The teams of Razzak/Adnan Ismail and Hitakshi Savdharia/Harishri Savdharia both dropped in the octafinal round after hard-fought debates. The team of Bobrownicki and Adam Alamy won its first elimination round of the year and advanced to the quarterfinals.
