Students at Fairmont Preparatory Academy stood together on Monday, October 22, to end bullying at their inaugural Peace Summit. The rally is an integral part of the Fairmont Code, a school-wide policy where kindness, respect and being inclusive represent the Fairmont culture. The goal of the summit was to create awareness and teach students that real strength lies in acceptance.

The hour-long program incorporated student peace ambassadors, who under the direction of Jill Thomas LMFT led the summit with passion and positive energy. Throughout the summit, students performed, sang and pledged to be kind to one another. One of the highlights of the event was the Be Kind human wave, where each section of the bleachers was given a letter and held up their letters to spell out BE K.I.N.D.

The program culminated when Fairmont students and teachers volunteered to stand in front of the entire student body and share personal truths about themselves. Their openness to be vulnerable in front of their peers was exceptionally moving and connected the school.

To continue educating students about acceptance, ASA Entertainment will visit Fairmont Prep on November 13, at 10:00 am and bring top BMX and inline skating pros, along with their 12 foot half pipe, to perform stunts while they spread the anti-bully message.
