Fairmont Prep is continually searching for ways to improve the overall well-being of our students. Fairmont Fit allows its students to ride an exercise bike while reading, or use a resistance band at their desk while listening to a lecture. Studies show that aerobically-fit individuals have a 2.4 times greater chance of passing math tests and a 2.2 times greater chance of passing a reading test compared to aerobically unfit individuals.

Fairmont Fit works on improving the overall health and fitness of students to increase morale, spirit, and outlook.

Fitness Based Curriculum Equals Higher Test Scores

Studies have shown that aerobically-fit individuals have a 2.4 times greater chance of passing math tests and a 2.2 times greater chance of passing reading tests compared with aerobically unfit individuals. By launching Fairmont Fit in our classrooms, we have the ability to increase chances of higher student test performance. Schools with a fitness based curriculum have statistically higher standardized tests scores than schools with a skills based curriculum.

Fairmont Fit provides age appropriate activities for all grade levels with exercise equipment moved in various classrooms. Students can ride an exercise bike while reading, or use a resistance band at their desk while listening to a lecture. They use the equipment while learning. Classrooms are also outfitted with iPads and exercise mats. Heart rate monitors and apps enabling each student to become an expert on their personal fitness level. Students and parents are able to track their student’s improved athletic performances with the app.
