Students who have not yet met the English language proficiency requirements to the International Foundation Year are able to apply to the Language Foundation program at Fairmont Preparatory Academy. This intensive, extended-day program consists of one-to-two semesters dependent upon language ability. Upon completion of this program and acquisition of the necessary language skills, students may advance into Fairmont Prep’s International Foundation Year program.
International Foundation Year
The International Foundation Year program at Fairmont Preparatory Academy is designed for international students with an intermediate and low-advanced level of English language proficiency. This program combines intensive language coursework with academic credit-bearing coursework so that our international students are able to maximize the time it takes to complete their studies.
The Direct Entry option is for international students with an advanced level of language proficiency who require minimal language support and wish to earn a Fairmont Preparatory Academy diploma. Earning a Fairmont diploma enables students to be a part of the rich academic tradition as evident by 91% of graduates being accepted to top 100 colleges over the last five years.
Students may begin this option of study at either the junior high or at the high school level. Dependent on the student’s writing ability, admission to Direct Entry may be with or without the Writing Seminar (DE-W). Students in the Direct Entry program are fully immersed with non-international students, providing them a traditional Fairmont Private Schools experience
